Cape Disappointment
Named by Captain John Meares in 1788 as he was searching for the entrance to the Columbia River. Having sailed from the north, he turned back at this point in disappointment at not finding the mouth of he river. Little did he know the river mouth is just on the other side of this lighthouse.
